Nickelodeon launched on May 8, 1986 as Nick. The first series shown on the network was Todd & Larry. Before it was launched, the Catalina Channel was in its place and existed from September 1, 1984 to May 7, 1986. Nickelodeon aired random kids television shows such as Care Bears. Nickelodeon came up with its own shows such as Doug. Syndicated shows stopped airing in mid 1995. In 1997, Nickelodeon moved, along with Disney Channel, Jago Films, MBC, and 8 network, to their new headquarters in Solomeda. In 1998, Nickelodeon started airing in Brokenhall. In 2001, Nick@Nite, a nighttime block filled with 80s and 90s comedy, launched. On July 19, 2008 Nickelodeon launched a new logo with the word "nickelodeon" in lowercase.
